Mumbai – Before the first match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series, former Indian player Mohammad Kaif mocked Australia who practiced in the nets using R.Ashwin’s ‘dupe’. Kaif wrote on Twitter that Australia will not look for Jadeja’s duplicate before the second Test in Delhi.
“Now Australia will understand the difference between a duplicate Ashwin and an original. You can’t prepare once morest one of the world-class players by facing a first-class player. Let’s hope they don’t look for Jadeja’s duplicate in Delhi.” – Muhammad Kaif wrote on Twitter.
The Australian players faced Baroda spinner Mahesh Pithia in the nets, who can be said to be a replica of R.Ashwin’s bowling style. The Australian team invited the player to bowl in the nets following seeing Mahesh’s video footage. Pythia revealed that Steve Smith bowled more in the nets and Smith was dismissed six times in the nets. Despite learning so much, the Aussies failed miserably in the first Test at Nagpur.
It was Ashwin’s five-wicket performance that dismissed the Aussies for 91 runs in the second innings of the Nagpur Test. Ashwin bowled 12 overs and took five wickets for 37 runs. Ashwin took three wickets in the first innings. Ravindra Jadeja took five wickets in the Aussies’ first innings. Jadeja, who also shone in batting, returned with 70 runs off 185 balls.
