Earthquake in Turkey: Ten Moroccan nationals dead

Four new deaths – women – died in this earthquake, specifies the diplomatic representation.

The Minister Delegate in charge of Relations with Parliament, government spokesperson, Mustapha Baitas, indicated last Thursday that the number of Moroccan nationals who died in the earthquake had reached four victims.

A strong earthquake with a magnitude of 7.7 on the Richter scale shook the district of Pazarcık in Kahramanmaraş, in the south of Turkey last Monday, causing enormous damage in the localities of “Gaziantep”, “Adana “, “Malatya”, “Diyarbakir”, “Sanliurfa” and “Osmaniye”, in addition to the epicenter.

A few hours following this first violent tremor, another earthquake struck north of the city of Gaziantep with almost the same intensity and near the epicenter of the first earthquake, which worsened the toll of the disaster.

The death toll so far stands at more than 31,000 dead and 80,000 injured.

Turkish authorities have declared official mourning for a period of seven days and a state of emergency in the affected areas for three months.
