Alan Border criticizes Steve Smith for giving thumbs up to Jadeja, Alex Carey responds

Nagpur: Aussie wicketkeeper Alex Carey has responded to legend Allan Border who criticized Ravindra Jadeja for giving thumbs up while batting during the Nagpur cricket test once morest India. In an interview with Border Fox Cricket, Border revealed that the hallmark of Australians is to play aggressively and there is no need to motivate the opponents by giving a thumbs up. Targeting Smith, Border said that he should not be stupid at the crease and play aggressively instead of giving a thumbs up while being beaten on the off-stump.

But Alex Carey said Smith has his own style and giving opponents a thumbs up doesn’t mean he lacks aggression. We have the utmost respect for Alan Border. Everyone knows that his comments were aimed at Steve Smith. But Smith does this in every situation.

He makes various hand gestures while batting. By doing so he stays at the crease with more concentration. Border’s words once morest Smith turned out to be somewhat harsh. But Carey told the Sydney Morning Herald that Australia is now trying to make a strong comeback in the second Test to be held in Delhi following learning from the first Test.

In the Nagpur Test, Australia lost an innings in three days. Not a single Aussie batsman scored a half-century in the Nagpur Test. Steve Smith scored 37 runs in the first innings and was bowled by Jadeja. Smith remained unbeaten on 25 in the second innings but the Aussies’ innings did not even cross 100. In the meantime, Smith, who was bowled by Jadeja, was saved because it was a no ball. The second Test between India and Australia will be held at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi from 17th.
