War in Ukraine: “Russia probably suffers its highest casualty rate since the start of the war”

The British Ministry of Defense reports that Russia has probably suffered its highest casualty rate since the first week of the invasion of Ukraine in the past two weeks. According to figures from the Ukrainian General Staff, “the average for the last seven days was 824 casualties per day, more than four times the rate reported from June to July 2022”, it is written on Twitter.

According to the secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine (NSDC), Oleksiy Danilov, the Russian military is currently facing “big problems” with the offensive raging in eastern Ukraine.

Our troops push back [l’offensive] Very strongly”, explains Oleksiy Danilov to the BBC. “The offensive they planned is already happening, bit by bit, but it’s not the offensive they imagined.”

According to Ukrainian data posted on Twitter, the number of Russian casualties per day rose from 172 in June and July to 824 in February. Despite the impossibility of verifying this data, the British Ministry of Defense considers that these figures are “probably correct”.

He explained that these rising losses might be linked to a lack of qualified personnel, coordination and resources at the front. The partial mobilization of September effectively brought with it its share of inexperienced and poorly trained conscripts. “Russia probably suffers its heaviest losses”, writes the British Defense.

But Ukraine is also suffering significant losses, according to British intelligence.
