Scottie Scheffler crowned Phoenix Open, world No

Winning 6 strokes in the final, gaining a total of -19 strokes, Scottie Scheffler successfully defended the WM Phoenix Open championship and returned to the No.

The final day of WM Phoenix Open 2023 is a very attractive competition between 3 golfers Scottie Scheffler with Nick Taylor and Jon Rahm.

In the first 6 holes, Jon Rahm scored 3 birdies but made a bogey error on hole 8 (par4) and might no longer control the mentality in an attempt to win a third trophy in 2023 on the PGA Tour.

Also scoring 3 birdies in the first 6 holes, Nick Taylor’s form is better than Rahm’s. But the results of 7 birdies and 1 bogey were not enough for him to overthrow Scheffler.

“On this day of competition, I didn’t show my best.”Scheffler admitted following finishing the competition at TPC Scottsdale.

Scheffler started with 2 birdies in a row at holes 2 (par4) and 3 (par5). At hole 6, he was close by two opponents with a distance of only 1 stroke.

Even so, Scheffler was still awake to score the third birdie at hole 9 (par4).

Exciting battle at the end. On hole 13 (par5), hand golf Americans excelled with eagle points to confirm their dominance on the leaderboard.

Not stopping, at the 17th hole (par4), the 26-year-old athlete got more birdie points. Meanwhile, Nick Taylor hit a bogey at the 16th hole (par3) so the race was over.

After 4 days of competition, Scheffler achieved a total of 19 birdies, 1 eagle and 2 bogeys. He has a total of -19 strokes, 2 strokes over Taylor and 5 strokes over Jon Rahm.

“I’m just proud of how I fought in the final day.”, Scheffler looked back on the coronation journey. He admits he spent Sunday “really, really good on this golf course”.

Scheffler successfully defended WM Phoenix Open, also title PGA Tour 5th in his professional golf career. His most recent victory came at The Masters last year.

After the victory, Scheffler humbly: “I’d say that I’m not the second best golfer in the world. I think Rory McIlroy and Jon Rahm are almost equal at best.”.

Not the best, but Scheffler is in enough form to step into the world No. 1 position, the position he gave to McIlroy last October, following the CJ Cup event.

The Phoenix Open 2023 event gathered 800,000 spectators in 4 days of competition, with a prize money of 3.6 million USD for Scheffler.

This weekend is the Genesis Invitational (February 16-19), the tournament that Tiger Woods sponsored and he also confirmed to attend.
