Mexico announces that Proteo, an Army dog, died during his rescue mission in Turkey

(CNN Spanish) — The Mexican Secretariat of National Defense (SEDENA) announced this Sunday the death of Proteo, a dog that was part of the country’s delegation that participates in search and rescue work in Turkey.

“The members of the Mexican Army and Air Force deeply regret the loss of our great companion Can Proteo. You fulfilled your mission as a member of the Mexican delegation in the search and rescue of our brothers in Turkey. Thank you for your heroic work!” SEDENA published on his Twitter account. The Secretary of Foreign Relations Marcelo Ebrard also lamented the death of the dog in a message in Twitter: “I regret the sensitive death of Proteo, a member of the SEDENA rescue team in Turkey. He raised up the name of Mexico and our people ”.

For its part, the Mexican delegation Turkey held a ceremony in honor of Proteus, to which they dedicated a minute of silence and applause for their work in the European country.
