Dak Prescott he went on to win the Walter Payton Man of the Year Award for his charitable service off the field. The marshal of the Dallas Cowboys was selected as the winner last Thursday night at the NFL’s Best of the Season Awards Ceremony. However, the symbolic statuette of said award was given to him prior to the start of the Super Bowl LVII.
The award took place on the field of play at State Farm Stadium before the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles begin their fight for the title. However, the pitch was pretty severe with Dak. The screams from a stadium packed with Philadelphia fans demonstrated the latent sports rivalry between the Eagles and the Cowboys. Both belong to the East Division of the National Conference and since 1970 they have remained one of the strongest duels in the NFL.
In the same way, Dak wasn’t the only one who was booed on the Super Bowl court, the quarterback joined him Andrew Whitworth who was the center of the Los Angeles Rams and champion on one occasion. Whitworth was around for being the Man of the Year winner last year and today he made a symbolic act of handing over the baton. Both footballers, before speaking, waited a moment to see if the whistle would pause for a moment. Between complicit smiles, they began to speak in front of the public and noted their discomfort.
The Man of the Year award is also accompanied by a $250,000 bonus that the winner must donate to his foundation, if he has one, or to a charity. Dak has his own foundation “Faith Fight Finish” which is dedicated to the fight and investigation of colon cancer and also takes up the prevention of suicides and mental health care. Prescott’s mother died of colon cancer and his older brother committed suicide.
The Philadelphia team and its fans recognize the number 4 of the Cowboys very well. Since Prescott arrived in the NFL in 2016, he has only lost twice to the City of Brotherly Love team. Vaqueros and Águilas cannot see the other succeeding, the history and mystique of both does not allow it and today, Dak witnessed it.
