London: A bomb believed to be from the Second World War has been found in the British town of Great Yarmouth. The bomb accidentally exploded while trying to defuse it. No casualties were reported.
The incident started on Tuesday when a contractor engaged in dredging work in the Yare River found 250 kg of explosives. After he informed, the authorities reached the area and announced high alert. People were then evacuated and roads closed. The team of experts started the operation to defuse the explosive device on Friday. In the meantime it somehow exploded. According to the police, casualties were avoided due to the presence of a protective shield around the bomb, which was made in the last century. Norfolk Police later tweeted footage of the bomb detonating during defuse operations. This video later went viral.
