Seider and Draisaitl each had two assists in Detroit and Edmonton victories

Leon Draisaitl keeps the upper hand in the German duel once morest Tim Stützle and climbs to second place in the Pacific Division with the Edmonton Oilers following their ninth win in the last eleven games.

The Edmonton Oilers continue to ride the wave of success and won 6-3 at the Ottawa Senators. Leon Draisaitl contributed two assists to make it 1-0 through Connor McDavid and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins to make it 6-3. With the Ottawa Senators, who were back in action for the first time since January 31, Tim Stützle remained without a point in 19:40 minutes. Sens goalkeeper Anton Forsberg suffered a leg injury during a defensive action when the goal was conceded to make it 3:6 in the last third and had to be carried off the ice on a stretcher. Edmonton, with their ninth win in their last 11 games, climbed into second place in the Pacific Division with 65 points, just one point behind the Vegas Golden Knights (66). Connor McDavid, who recorded one goal and two assists, extended his points streak to 15 straight games in which he accumulated 25 points (10 goals, 15 assists). Overall, the undisputed top scorer in the league already has 97 points (42 goals, 55 assists) and is ahead of teammate Leon Draisaitl, who has 78 points (29 goals, 49 assists) on his points account.

Defenseman ace Moritz Seider contributed two assists to his Detroit Red Wings’ 5-2 win over the Vancouver Canucks. The 21-year-old international now has 28 points (three goals, 25 assists) and celebrated his second win in a row with Detroit (54 points). The team from the US state of Michigan is currently seven points short of a playoff spot.

There was nothing for JJ Peterka to gain in front of a home crowd with the Buffalo Sabers in a 7-2 loss to the Calgary Flames. Peterka recorded a shot on goal in just under 13 minutes of ice time. Buffalo (56) failed to close the gap on the Pittsburgh Penguins (61), who lost 6-0 to the Los Angeles Kings and occupy the final playoff spot. Adrian Kempe scored four goals for the Kings while goaltender Phoenix Copley celebrated his first shutout in a jersey for LA.

Artemi Panarin also scored four goals and an assist in the New York Rangers’ 6-2 win over leaders Carolina Hurricanes. After two even periods, the Blueshirts pulled away with four unanswered goals in the final period and celebrated their fifth win in a row. 24 hours earlier, new signing Vladimir Tarasenko made his debut for Rangers in the 6-3 win once morest Seattle along with Finnish defender Niko Mikkola, both of whom came on a trade from St. Louis. Tarasenko scored his first goal for his new employer right from his first shot on goal.
