Lhe assessment of the violent earthquake which struck Turkey and Syria on Monday rises to 33,179 dead on Sunday, according to the latest official reports.


Earthquakes with a magnitude of up to 7.8 claimed 29,605 lives in southern Turkey, Turkey’s public disaster management agency Afad said on Sunday, while authorities counted 3,574 died in Syria. According to the UN, the toll might “double”.
