Iconic songs and texts still relevant, “I’ll love you”, is a generational musical comedy overflowing with positive, communicative energy, crossed destinies that will take you from the port of Le Havre to New York, Paris or still Marrakech aboard the liner France. These are extracts from life, moments of timeless emotions where everyone can recognize themselves.
This funny and moving show is not a biopic regarding Michel Sardou. It is the story of young French people, which takes place over 40 years and on three continents from the great songs of Michel Sardou such as, La Maladie d’amour, En chantant, les Vieux Maries and of course, I’m going to to like.
At the heart of this musical, a Dijon native plays the role of Leo
Boris Barbe : “Léo, a rich shipowner, takes his wife on a honeymoon and has everything to be happy. He lives on his father’s fortune, but the fact that he is rich will get him into trouble. Despite everything, his love life filled with happiness will last 40 years. It’s a love life with ups and downs of course, in which the public will be able to find themselves. We are in real life”
Always happy ?
“Downright. It is an incredible artistic adventure. Two years ago, I discovered the world of musical comedy. A childhood dream that I live every day with always this anxiety that everything will stop, but that’s my anxious side that takes over. But I take advantage of all the moments, the experiences that I live, because that’s what I wanted and I enjoy myself every day. The rest we will see.”
Nice meeting
“People first. Meeting the public at the end of the concerts is a moment of intense joy. there are also professional encounters, like the one with Didier Barvelivien, the author of the song I perform on stage, the river of our childhood. And then Michel Sardou. When you know that the sheet metal worker is in the room, it’s extra pressure during the show. But his satisfaction at the end of the performance he shared with us backstage was very reassuring and motivating.”
The return to Dijon, is it an additional pressure?
“The pressure is there every night. But when you sing in your city it’s still different. In November 2021, I had an incredible and very touching welcome. Especially since we were starting the tour. The musical did not yet have the notoriety it enjoys today. But I felt the people of Dijon very proud to have an artist who represented their city in this troupe. They really made me feel it. And with the return of, I will love you, at the Zénith de Dijon, I think the atmosphere will be even warmer, which is not without putting me under extra pressure. (laugh)»
Projects in Dijon and Saint Tropez
“When I come back to Dijon, I often play with Yann Charliquart for the guitar-voice duo By Men. For this summer, dates are planned, others will be confirmed. Our duo is trendy, Anglo-Saxon Pop variety. We revisit some pieces with our personality. And then I’m going to Saint Tropez. I will be on stage in a musical show for the famous restaurant, the Opera, near the port. It’s a new experience for me just before resuming the tour for, I will love you, in the fall.”
