“I feel like there’s been too much negativity, I think I was fed up with it all and couldn’t find the strength anymore!”

Tuesday followingnoon, Chayenne van Aarle, our Miss Belgium, had a terrible road accident. Her car literally crashed under a truck and the young woman had to be extricated by the firefighters. On Thursday, she was able to leave the hospital and return home to rest. If she does not remember everything, she nevertheless believes that life probably wanted to send her a sign. “Everything happens for a reason. I took a lesson on Tuesday. Sometimes people drink or quibble on their mobile phone and it’s an accident. It was not my case but I can say that I was very lucky”.

What happened on the road for her to fit into the truck like this, without even having braked? “The message I really want to get across is that I wasn’t on my phone. I admit it, like a lot of people I think, I used my phone in the car before but swore to myself never to do it once more. A second of inattention and it’s an accident. In my case, I don’t know what happened. I didn’t brake, I didn’t see anything. All I can say is that over the past few weeks, a lot of things have been going through my head. I have the impression that there has been too much negativity, especially following certain articles that have appeared. I think I was fed up with everything and I mightn’t find the strength anymore”.

A lot of pressure

The event also made him realize some things. “I had a lot of questions in my life and I have some answers. I now know who really loves me and who doesn’t,” she says. “Everyone is there when things are bad but you realize that sometimes you have to be almost dead for people to be nice. I also notice that there is much more pressure today than before and that it is becoming hard for young people to live in today’s world”.

The Miss will therefore have to rest. “The fatigue has taken over”, explains the one who suffers from multiple bruises, especially on the face, and pain in the vertebrae. She is at rest for at least 4 weeks, before seeing the doctor once more. She will therefore not be able to be in the final of Miss Belgium 2023 which will take place next Saturday, live from La Panne. “In any case, you have to accept yourself as you are and there are situations much worse than mine. Look what is happening in Turkey. That’s really dramatic, ”concludes Chayenne.
