To ensure a smooth network during the connection phase Internet International travel is having problems, from February 11, the Military Industry-Telecommunications Group (Viettel) shares 100Gbps capacity to support VNPT in network rescue.
[Doanh nghiệp viễn thông cam kết đảm bảo kết nối Internet đi quốc tế]
As the enterprise with the largest and most modern telecommunications infrastructure in Vietnam, Viettel currently owns 4 undersea fiber optic cable lines and 2 overland cable routes connecting internationally. When the undersea cable had problems, Viettel had two undersea cable routes, including the AAE-1 route to Singapore and the IA route to Hong Kong. In which, the IA cable line is the only route that Viettel has exploited so far.
In order to ensure the annual growth rate of bandwidth and to ensure the backup of the number of undersea fiber optic cables that are frequently broken, Viettel will deploy 4 more undersea cable routes from now to 2030, of which the ADC route has been deployed to the shore. and is expected to be put into operation in 2023, this cable route will increase by 18Tbps, triple the current capacity (Viettel’s international connection capacity is currently close to 9Tbps).
Besides, Viettel always reserves 40% of its capacity for international travel to be ready for situations broken cableavoid affecting the customer’s service experience.
When there is a phenomenon of high load, the information technology systems built by Viettel’s own personnel will automatically balance the load, route and regulate capacity on the remaining undersea and land cable directions.
Looking at the history, it can be seen that each year, Vietnam occurs regarding 10 times of undersea cable breaks, the average break time is 1 month due to the extremely complicated repair of undersea optical cables, requiring permits to enter and exit the territory of other countries. cable goes through. Therefore, usually only 3/5 sea cable lines operate simultaneously.
That is also the reason why Viettel always maintains a minimum of 40% of the international connection capacity as a backup to ensure service quality for customers, but increases investment costs as well as loads for the operating force. waterfall.
It is expected that the APG cable route will be the first to be restored in March 2023, helping to restore 25% of the international connection capacity for Viettel.
According to Mr. Nguyen Hong Thang – Director of the Department of Telecommunications (Ministry of Information and Communications), with 4 undersea cable lines continuously having problems causing partial or complete loss of capacity on the route, businesses are affected. enjoy.
Before that serious incident, Viettel’s services were still basically guaranteed even during peak hours, helping Viettel’s service quality to be outstanding.
In particular, the group of customers with leased lines, 3G and 4G data are not affected because they have been configured with prior priority. As soon as the incident happened, Viettel invested an additional 30% of the international transmission capacity with its partners to accelerate the restoration of sea cable routes./.
