Within the framework of the actions to address diseases transmitted by the Aedes aegypti mosquito of the provincial government, in different neighborhoods of the city of Córdoba, the second aedic monitoring of the 2022-2023 season will begin this Monday and will last until Friday the 17th. from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
In case of rain, the operation will be suspended and rescheduled.
Promoters from the Ministry of Health will visit house to house requesting access to the houses for the search and recognition of potential breeding sites as well as mosquito larvae. They will also offer a knowledge survey on dengue, chikungunya and zika, hand out brochures and advise on prevention measures to avoid these diseases.
“The objective of larval monitoring is to detect and evaluate the presence of Aedes aegypti mosquito larvae in homes to estimate the risk of transmission of dengue, chikungunya, and Zika in the city,” reported Patricia González, a reference from the Department of Zoonoses, adding that The collaboration of the neighbors is essential to carry out the monitoring.

It should be remembered that in the first survey of the season, containers with Aedes aegypti larvae were detected in 12 out of every 100 homes visited. This value indicates a high level of risk of viral transmission, according to the indices established by WHO/PAHO. In turn, it was confirmed that more than 90% of the houses have potential breeding sites.
