The brand of soda has changed the cap of its bottles. The novelty: the lid is connected to the body of the bottle by a ring fitted with a tab. Thus the cap will remain attached, to prevent it from ending up in nature rather than in the trash.
These new bottles have now been in circulation in Belgium since Friday. This design will thus gradually appear in Belgian stores, with 1.5 liter bottles in mind. The same applies to the Fanta and Sprite brands, belonging to Coca
The device was tested at the Coca-Cola research and development center in Anderlecht. Caps and bottles can now be collected together for recycling. At the end of 2022, Coca announced that the 50 cl bottles produced in France (Coca, Fanta and Sprite) would now be made from 100% recycled plastic, which reduces the carbon footprint of each bottle by 70%. Each year, the company uses 200,000 tonnes of plastic in Europe. It would like to achieve 100% recycled plastic for all its European production by 2030.
The Chaudfontaine water bottling plant, as well as the Fanta, Fuze Tea and Sprite brands should follow suit this year.
