18 months they dreamed of it: separated since the floods, the inhabitants of the two banks of Trooz will finally be reunited

There is an air of new life in Trooz. The municipality of Liège had been at the center of the floods of 2021. The municipality had suffered considerable damage, with in particular the destruction by the waves of 5 of the 6 bridges of the city.

The most important was also a road linking the two banks of the town, the Prayon bridge. The central pilaster had been seriously damaged, making traffic impossible on the spot. But this morning, the development work began, with a new structure, metallic this time. Work that will last for months, but which puts an end to 18 months of waiting for these residents, often cut off from the other side.

“It’s a real relief and a sign of hope for our municipality. Things are rebuilding, it really warms the heart”testifies a local resident, moved, who came to observe the first works, like many other inhabitants. “What a relief to do something solid, planned to withstand future floods”engages another. “It’s impressive, I like to see the assemblies. It’s a bit like in our mechanics when we were little”concludes a third.

For the workers, the work begins. It will be completed in the fall and should allow Trooz to regain the peace of mind it was before the dramatic floods of 2021. Total cost of the operation on this more robust bridge: 2.5 million euros.
