  • A little boy has been honored with a certificate by Scottish police.

  • Hanlon Stevenson called for help for his mother in 2019 when he was two years old.

  • The fact that he was able to do this has to do with his toys.

“Hanlon’s courage and skills are very commendable,” Scottish police wrote in a tweet regarding Hanlon Stevenson, now six from Stirling. The boy received an award for bravery four years earlier in a ceremony at police headquarters in Tulliallan on Friday.

What happened? The then two-year-old boy had noticed that his mother Lisa (28) suddenly felt unwell, shortly followingwards she collapsed unconscious. Without hesitation, he picked up the phone and dialed Emergency number 999, to which he reported: “Mommy is sleeping and I can’t wake her up.” Paramedics immediately rushed to the Stevensons’ home and tended to Hanlon’s mother.

Police Chief Iain Livingstone praised the boy for his reaction and presence of mind. “He’s very proud of himself and so am I,” said Lisa Stevenson. She explains her son’s ability to call 911 at the age of two: “He had small, battery-operated toys that might say ‘999’ and since he’s a fast learner, he probably remembered the number and then it became obvious elected to get help.”
