Businesswomen from the interior of São Paulo have developed a solution to bring ergonomics to the office of thousands of Brazilians who work at home, in the so-called home office. The startup Click Home Office was founded in 2020, during the pandemic, by entrepreneurs Hozana Ramirez, who is a physical therapist at work, and by corporate architects Bruna Oliani and Luiza Santini. They observed a growing demand from people with complaints of discomfort in remote work. At this point, they decided to come together and develop a business model to improve well-being and health in the home office.
Working from home is nothing new on the market. In 2018, the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) recorded 3.8 million Brazilians working remotely. However, the global pandemic has intensified the number of people in this modality. This is what the study by the Institute of Economic and Applied Research (Ipea) shows, which identified, in 2020, 8.2 million people in home office. That is, there was an increase of approximately 115% between 2018 and 2020.
“Most companies design their offices following ergonomic standards”, says architect Bruna Oliani. But what regarding the reality in the home office? “Well, in our consultations, we realized that many people do not have adequate furniture and equipment”, complements Bruna. According to physiotherapist Hozana, an inadequate space combined with a bad posture, lack of physical exercises, intervals and stretching ends up causing discomfort in the shoulder, neck, forearm, spine and a series of other complaints that are observed in ergonomic consultations.
After many studies, the businesswomen developed their own software to evaluate employees’ workstations 100% online. The consulting process takes place in stages, first the employee goes through a data collection through a quick form. Afterwards, video consultations are scheduled to carry out a technical assessment and interventions according to the needs and activity of each person. An ergonomics consultant accompanies and monitors the evolution of the home office until reaching a suitable end result for the employee and the company.
Hozana claims that low-cost changes can completely change the employee’s routine. “A recurrent case is people who feel pain in the forearm because they have a table with a straight edge and we solve this very simply with a tape breaker”, reports the physiotherapist.
Human Resources professionals are increasingly aware of the well-being, health and quality of life of employees. And care with ergonomics is essential to generate comfort, safety and efficiency in the performance of activities, in addition to increasing the satisfaction of the team with the company.
Startup serves companies from different parts of Brazil and for 2023 plans to launch a new service aimed at long-term monitoring of employees and strategically develop ergonomic actions in teams. According to architect Luiza Santini, “our goal is to bring ergonomics in a practical way and with quality to improve comfort, safety and well-being for home officers all over the country”.
