Telegram: how to connect to a proxy server [iPhone, iPad e Mac]

Some time ago, we showed here on MacMagazine how can you connect to a proxy server using WhatsApp. This ends up being extremely important for users who are in countries where the messenger is blocked due to censorship, for example.

Know that this same possibility of connection is also available on Telegram — main competitor of Messenger from Meta.

How to connect to a proxy server via Telegram on iPhone/iPad

Open Telegram and tap on the “Settings” tab. Then select “Data and Storage” and at the bottom of the list, go to “Proxy”.

Activate the “Use Proxy” option and follow the steps presented to adjust the proxy settings. When finished, tap “Done”. You can also simply tap “Add Proxy” below if you prefer.

How to connect to a proxy server through Telegram on Mac

With the official Telegram app for macOS open, click on the gear (at the bottom) or, if you prefer, go to Telegram » Preferences… in the menu bar (or directly use the shortcut ⌘ command ,).

Then select “Data and Storage” and “Use Proxy”. Click on “Add Proxy” and follow the steps. When finished, click “Done”. On the feature’s home screen, you can still choose to enable the option to use proxy on calls.
