Klima-Kleber built racing cars as a student

At the end of January, the German activist couple Luisa (22) and Yannick (24) hit the headlines: The climate stickers missed a court date – because they flew to Thailand.

But now it comes out: Long before the Thailand flight, Yannick was not exactly climate-friendly. At the university, the mechanical engineering student often and happily tinkered with racing cars with combustion engines.

As a team leader at the Ostbayerische Technische Hochschule (OTH), the 24-year-old even led a group of 70 like-minded students. With the “Dynamics” association, Yannick and his team have repeatedly built racing cars, writes the “Bild”.

At that time, today’s climate sticker said enthusiastically: “Formula Student was one of the reasons I went to OTH Regensburg.” With their combustion engine they were even the third best team in Germany.

When they switched to electric drive, Yannick was disappointed: “It was difficult to check off the combustion engine because it was so successful.”
