Among the rumors regarding the next iPhones, the various speculations regarding a camera on the devices stand out — a very important aspect that makes several people decide or not to buy a smartphone. The newest rumor regarding this is to the effect that the camera module will undergo a change in the next generation of iPhones.
The information was released by leaker ShrimpApplePro, known for sharing rumors and getting it right in many cases. He published a rather vague tweet, including jokingly saying not to echo his speech and just writing “new camera jump”.
Understanding that he is referring to the future iPhones, which will be launched in the second half of this year – and with all this lack of details -, several possibilities come to mind.
Initially, we can relate this rumor to others that have already been released, notably that of the periscope lens, which might reach the most advanced model in the line. Engineering demands may cause camera designs to change in order to enable the increased zoom capabilities of the possible new lens.
Another possibility that attracted some supporters with this communication from the leaker was that the Pro models gained one more sensor, in addition to the three they already have and LiDAR. There is no more specific information in this regard, just being speculated from the rumor released.
Furthermore, comparing the iPhone 11 Pro/11 Pro Max to the 14 Pro/14 Pro Max, we can see that the camera module has been constantly growing due to the advancement of the specifications of the three sensors, which require more space. Even the entry-level models underwent a design change as they no longer fit in the vertical arrangement adopted in the iPhones 11 and 12.
Speaking of iPhones cheaper less expensive in the line, it was also speculated that they might gain one more camera and, thus, have their module increased, aiming to increase the demand that is low in the current iPhones 14 and 14 Plus. It is difficult for this possibility to materialize, since the third camera is an important differentiator of the Pro models, but it is understandable that some people would come to mind with what ShrimpApplePro said.
Still, the models should receive an upgrade in photographic capacity, possibly gaining sensors similar to those of the iPhone 14 Pro – at least on the main camera. With the resolution increasing and/or other improvements, it is understood that there is a need for change in camera engineering, which would imply a larger module.
Let’s keep waiting!
