The Spanish Real Madrid set a date with the Saudi Al-Hilal at 23:00 tomorrow evening in the final match of the Club World Cup currently being held in Morocco, as it defeated the Egyptian Al-Ahly 4-1, while Al-Hilal defeated the Brazilian Flamengo 3-2. Madrid’s goals were scored by Brazilian Vinicius Junior (42), Uruguayan Valverde (47), Brazilian Rodrigo (90 + 2) and Sergio Aribas (90 + 8), while Tunisian Ali Maaloul scored Al-Ahly’s only goal (65 from a penalty kick). The victory of Madrid, who holds the record for the number of championship titles (4 titles in 2014, 2016, 2017 and 2018), comes as he is going through a state of turmoil the day following he traveled to the city of Rabat in order to reconcile with the victory and ignore the injuries that have become part of the daily life of the capital club.
The most prominent victim of this series was French striker Karim Benzema, winner of the Ballon d’Or last season, who missed the match due to an injury to his right thigh, similar to Belgian goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, who was also injured in his thigh. On the other hand, Al-Hilal became the first Saudi team and the third Arab club, following Moroccan Raja and Al-Ain, to qualify for the Club World Cup final, and Salem Al-Dosari, the star of Al-Hilal, became the historic Arab scorer in the tournament, with four goals.
