Debris from a Russian satellite creates panic in space – La Nouvelle Tribune

Space has become a field of conquest for many world superpowers. Presence in space is now a major challenge for many countries that are developing bold policies to ensure this presence. countries like the UNITED STATESthe Chinethe Russiathe Japan, India, a large part of the European countries allocate colossal budgets to the departments which manage the projects in space. The number of satellites currently orbiting the Earth is considerable. These spacecraft are used for different purposes (telecommunications, military information, weather forecasts).

It can be said that there are traffic jams of satellites in space and this situation is worrying, because collisions can occur and the debris is thrown into the Earth’s atmosphere. Cosmos 2499, a Russian satellite recently disintegrated in space and this event alerted the UNITED STATES. It must be said that the Americans have been monitoring this Russian satellite for several years now and they have never managed to find out the mission of the spacecraft. According to concordant sources, Cosmos 2499 was launched into space in 2014.

Was the satellite orbiting the Earth for military purposes? communications? We will never know, because it destroyed itself and left potentially dangerous debris for the Earth. According to information from 18th Space Defense Squadron, a group that searches for space objects in orbit, Cosmos 2499 disintegrated on January 4 at an altitude of over 1169 km. The team was thus able to identify 85 space debris, all of which are dangerous and orbit around the Earth. 18th Space Defense Squadron recommends launching a recovery operation for this debris as soon as possible, because it can remain in orbit for several years.
