DETROIT – Calgary Flames defenseman Rasmus Andersson was hospitalized Wednesday night following being hit by a motorist while riding a scooter in Detroit.
The Alberta team said Thursday the incident happened around 6 p.m. while Andersson was riding his scooter to dinner.
The 26-year-old was discharged from hospital later that evening following undergoing a ‘battery of tests’, the Flames said on Twitter.
The Flames are scheduled to face the Red Wings in Detroit on Thursday night.
“He was crossing a crosswalk,” Flames general manager Brad Treliving said Thursday. The good news – and the most important thing – is that “Ras” is doing well. He was taken by ambulance to Detroit Receiving Hospital. »
The team said Andersson is doing well and will stay with the team on their trip east. However, his state of health will be reassessed on a daily basis.
Andersson is in his seventh full season with the Flames and is their most prolific scorer among defensemen with 34 points in 51 games.
