Menen Abdel Maqsoud, Secretary General of the Secretariat of Mental Health and Addiction Treatment, indicated that the Ministry of Health and Population continues to provide mental health services, through the electronic platform for mental health and addiction treatment, which was launched on March 16, 2022.
In a related context, Dr. Menen Abdel Maqsoud said that, according to the statistics of the General Secretariat for Mental Health and Addiction Treatment, the number of visitors to the platform, since its launch, has reached 57,817 visitors, while the number of electronic questionnaires completed by users has reached 18,567, while The number of “virtual” treatment sessions that were provided to the platform’s visitors reached 3,654.
The Secretary-General of the Secretariat of Mental Health and Addiction Treatment added that the percentage of female users was 70% compared to 30% of males, adding that 19% of the platform’s visitors were married, compared to 81% of the unmarried.
Menen confirmed that most of the age groups using the platform ranged from 15 to 25 years, while the percentage of non-working users reached 64% compared to 36% of workers, adding that the site’s users were from all governorates, but most of them were from Cairo.
She pointed out that the national electronic platform for mental health and addiction treatment aims to provide free mental health and addiction treatment services for all age groups, Egyptians and non-Egyptians residing in Egypt, explaining that the platform is the first of its kind in the Eastern Mediterranean region.
