Ambalavayal (Wayanad): A local man who was questioned by the forest department authorities in the case of finding a dead tiger that terrorized Ponmudikota for days was found hanging. Hari of Nalu Cent Colony, Ambukuthi Padiparam was found dead early in the morning. Forest department officials had questioned Hari the other day. A week ago, a baby tiger was found dead with a rope around its neck in a private garden in Padiparam. The forest department received the information that Hari and others found the tiger lying dead around 5 pm.
A case was filed once morest the land owner following a one-and-a-half-year-old male tiger was found dead. But Muhammad lodged a complaint with the Ambalavyal police demanding to find those who encroached on his land and set the trap, and with this, an investigation was started on those who first saw the tiger’s carcass.
The National Highway will be blocked in Batheri today under the leadership of the Action Committee to protest the death of Hari. According to the family, Hari was afraid of being implicated in the case following the interrogation. The family says that Hari was under severe mental stress. However, the forest department has denied the allegation. Officials said that Hari was not accused in the case and was not made a witness. The explanation is that he was only asking regarding things.
A male tiger, regarding one and a half years old, died recently. The body was found in a garden along Ambukuthi 19 Padiparam road. The body was tangled around the neck. At seven o’clock the forest guards came and took the body for post-mortem. The dead was one of the tigers that attacked wild animals for over two months in Ponmudikota, Edakkal and Ambukuthi areas. It is concluded that this is the cub of a tiger that was caught in the forest department’s cage in Ponmudikota two months ago.
