Fable appears to have arrived in a playable state

It has been quiet around Fable for a long time, but apparently there seems to be progress in development.

facts

Fable was announced almost three years ago and will take even longer to develop, but we haven’t seen anything of the game since the 2020 CG announcement trailer. People are understandably increasingly concerned regarding the state of the project, but it seems that the developer Playground Games making steady progress behind the scenes.

LinkedIn profile of Fable producers Vijay Gillthat from Twisted Voxel was discovered suggests this. In his profile, Gill hints that the game is in a playable state and mentions that his responsibilities at Playground Games include “preparing and facilitating regular game playthroughs and build reviews with key stakeholders.”

Of course, a playable build of a game can take many forms over the course of a development cycle and doesn’t necessarily indicate what stage of production a project is at. But given that Fable has been in development for a number of years, it’s safe to assume that the game has progressed to the point where it’s playable on a larger scale.

According to some reports, there were some problems in the development of Fable, largely due to the studio’s internal policy resulting from the use of the ForzaTech-Engine revealed in the game. However, other reports claiming that the project was recently restarted have been dismissed as false by credible sources.

It was also recently reported that Playground Games in the development of the RPG by Deus Ex developers eidos montreal is supported.
