Lucknow: Four women left their husbands with the money received through the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) and went with their boyfriends. The strange incident took place in Burbanki district of Uttar Pradesh. Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana is a scheme of the central government to build houses for economically backward people.
According to the scheme, the amount will be deposited in the account of the head of the family. The complaint is that four women left their husbands in UP immediately following receiving the first installment of Rs 50,000. They have received a warning notice from the District Urban Development Agency as the construction of the house might not be started yet. They have now approached the authorities to stop the next installment from reaching their wives’ accounts.

NDTV reports that this strange incident came to the attention of the authorities when the construction work of their houses had not started.
Saurabh Tripathi, the project officer, issued an initial notice demanding that construction of the house begin immediately, but there was no response. Later, the husbands of the women approached the government office and told the authorities, ‘that their wives had gone with their lovers and that the second installment of PMAY should not be credited. With this, Tripathi said that they are trying to recover the money of these beneficiaries.
