Anas Jaber will undergo a “minor” surgery and will not participate in the Dubai and Doha tournaments

Jaber wrote on her Facebook page, “In order to take care of my health, my medical team decided to perform a simple surgery with the aim of returning to the stadiums and obtaining good results.”

She added that she had to “withdraw from the upcoming tournaments in Doha and Dubai as a result” and said the decision “breaks my heart” and said she was “sorry to the fans in the Middle East who were waiting for me”.

Jaber, 29, was eliminated from the second round of the Australian Open, the first of the four major tennis tournaments, by losing to Czech Marketa Vondrousova.

Jaber experienced a wonderful season in 2022 when she reached the finals of Wimbledon and the United States Championships, which enabled her to rise to second place in the ranking of professional players, in an Arab-African achievement, before she finally fell to third place.

Jaber is very popular in Tunisia, a country affected by a deep political and economic crisis, where she was called the “Minister of Happiness.”
