Starring Kim Ok-bin and Yoo Tae-oh… “It seems obvious, but it’s attractive that it’s not obvious”
(Seoul = Yonhap News) Reporter Oh Myeong-eon = Actor Kim Ok-bin, who showed dark and captivating performances in the films ‘The Bat’ (2009) and ‘The Villainess’ (2017), will challenge his first melodrama following 18 years of debut.
Kim Ok-bin said at the production presentation of Netflix’s new series ‘Love War’ held at CGV Yongsan I’Park Mall in Seoul on the 8th, “I wanted to take on a new challenge away from the heavy genre I was used to.”
He said, “I was tired of playing similar roles so far” and “‘Love War’ was the first script I might watch without stress and laugh. I challenged the idea that it would be the brightest work in my filmography. done,” he said.
‘Dating War’ is a romantic comedy regarding a woman who morbidly hates losing to a man and a man who is morbidly suspicious of a woman and heals each other through war-like love.
Kim Ok-bin takes on the role of Yeo Mi-ran, an enterprising and proactive female character that is hard to find in romantic comedies.
Despite the opposition of his patriarchal father, he went to law school and became a lawyer. After graduation, he paid his father the entire tuition fee and left home.
She doesn’t want to become an existence that needs to be protected, so she splits her study time to practice martial arts and even enjoys car racing.
Kim Ok-bin laughed, saying, “There are so many similarities that I wonder if the writer drew the character following seeing me.”
Actor Yoo Tae-oh will play the role of Nam Kang-ho, the ‘top star’ who will show a romantic chemistry (breathing) with Mi-ran Yeo.
Nam Kang-ho is a popular actor who is called the ‘god of melodrama’ and ‘the nation’s first love’, but due to childhood trauma, he has an allergic reaction whenever he sees a woman.
Teo Yoo said that the charm of the work was that it seemed “obvious yet not obvious”.
He revealed the reason for choosing the work, saying, “It felt attractive because completely non-typical characters collide in the typical romantic comedy genre.”
Actor Kim Ji-hoon also plays the role of Do Won-joon, the representative of the entertainment company Nam Kang-ho belongs to, adding a different charm to the play.
Kim Ji-hoon emphasized, “Recently, awareness of women’s empowerment is expanding, and ‘Love War’ is a work that is in line with the changing times.”
