Announcement of scholarships “Academy Music Theater Today” 2023-2025 – mica

In 2023, the Deutsche Bank Foundation will once more award 15 scholarships for the “Academy Music Theater Today” (AMH). From January 31st to May 1st, 2023, young music theater artists can apply for a scholarship 2023-2025. We are looking for international talents in the fields of stage and costume design, conducting, dramaturgy, composition, cultural management, libretto/text and directing.

With the AMH, the Deutsche Bank Foundation creates creative freedom for young music theater professionals. The two-year funding program encourages scholarship holders to engage with the current music theater scene, provides impetus for contemporary, interdisciplinary working methods and provides a platform for discussing questions regarding the future of music theater.

The central component of the two-year scholarship program are the AMH workshops with visits to productions on German stages and, once a year, a festival workshop in other European countries, which show the diversity of contemporary music theater. In addition, the participants have the opportunity to develop a music theater piece together and bring it to the stage. Cooperation partners for the final project are the Ensemble Modern and the Frankfurt University of Music and Performing Arts.

The call for applications is aimed at students and young professionals. International lateral entrants from other fields of study or other training courses with relevant internships or professional experience in the above-mentioned areas can also apply.

The selection is made by a specialist jury. The jury for the 2023-2025 vintage will be announced following the selection process in October 2023. There is no legal entitlement to the award of a scholarship.

During the two-year scholarship program, the participants must have Europe as the center of their work and life. Good knowledge of the German language is required. The age limit is 32 years (born in 1991), exception rules exist. it for parental leave, voluntary social year, etc
