A policewoman was seriously injured by a suspect on Tuesday followingnoon in the cell complex of the administrative center of the federal police, rue Royale, in Brussels, reports Sudinfo. The information was confirmed by the Brussels police and by the prosecution. The policewoman was admitted to Saint-Pierre hospital in critical condition.
The incident happened between 4:30 and 5:00 p.m. when police brought an apprehended person back to the cell compound. “This person violently opposed his incarceration and heavily beat our colleague, An emergency team (MUG) arrived on site to take him to the hospital”said a spokeswoman for the local police.
The head of the Brussels police, chief commissioner Michel Goovaerts, went to the hospital to assist the victim’s family.
The Brussels public prosecutor’s office has been informed, but will not comment until Wednesday.
