Health warns citizens against being outside the house in the cold to avoid diseases

The Ministry of Health and Population warned citizens once morest being outside the house in the cold, wind and rain for a long time to avoid contracting diseases as a result of the severe cold.

Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the official spokesman forMinistry of Health and PopulationExposure to cold weather, outside or inside the home, can lead to a variety of physical injuries that occur as a result of the inability of the body as a whole, or parts of it, to adapt to lower temperatures and cold waves.

Abdul Ghaffar pointed out that low body temperature in the cold winter weather may lead to multiple health damages, so it is necessary to warm the body and prevent the repercussions of the cold weather, by wearing heavy clothes suitable for cold or rainy weather conditions, and not being present for a long time in Cold, wind and rain.

He gave a number of tips to prevent the body from being exposed to cold and its repercussions, stressing the need to determine the time of going out in cold, rainy or windy weather, paying attention to weather forecasts and wind chill readings, and making sure to wear multiple layers of clothing.

The health spokesman stressed the need for outer clothing to protect from wind and water, and to change wet clothes as soon as possible, as well as to be careful to wear a head covering that completely covers the ears, to prevent body heat from leaking from the head, face and neck, and to prevent frostbite from hitting the skin of the head.

He pointed out the importance of wearing lined gloves that stick to the fingers instead of regular gloves, and wearing lined socks, which absorb moisture and form an insulator, while wearing shoes that resist water leakage in times of rain.

Abdul Ghaffar noted the need to monitor the appearance of any signs of frostbite on the skin, especially in the skin of the fingers, toes, ears, nose, cheeks and chin, and go to a warm place if the person notices any of these signs.
