The GM of Laval leaves his post and obtains $ 600,000

Ville de Laval will pay more than half a million dollars to its director general, Jacques A. Ulysse, at the end of his mandate.

This is what the mayor of Laval, Stéphane Boyer, confirmed today by press release.

The City and Mr. Ulysse have reached an agreement that will end the latter’s mandate on February 10. This will have to be approved by the executive committee on Wednesday.

The parties have agreed to termination terms, which provide for the payment of an amount equivalent to 22 months of full-time salary, or $617,000.

“According to the case law observed, several factors influence the severance pay, including the age of the person concerned and his ability to find a comparable job. In fact, all the experts consulted confirmed to me that our negotiated agreement was faithful to our obligations — no more, no less,” explained the mayor.

The mayor also stressed that although this type of agreement is always subject to numerous confidentiality clauses, it was necessary for him to be transparent and honest regarding the amount of compensation.

Mr. Ulysse joined the City in 2016 as Deputy Director General — Local Services, then as Director General in 2018.
