Singapore supports the responsible use of ChatGPT | Technology

Singapore Ministry of Education (MOE) is teaching teachers in schools and educational institutions how to use the tools artificial intelligence (AI) like ChatGPT to improve the quality of learning as these tools become more and more popular.

According to the Vietnam News Agency correspondent in Singapore, answering a question at the National Assembly on February 6 regarding solutions to avoid the abuse of AI tools such as ChatGPT in schools, Singapore’s Education Minister Chan Chun Sing said that ChatGPT is like a car. However, ChatGPT can only become a useful tool for learning when students have mastered basic concepts and thinking skills.

Therefore, the Singapore Ministry of Education will also equip students with the skills to use AI tools responsibly.

According to Singapore’s education chief, students will be taught to understand the basic concepts and not be too dependent on such AI tools. This would be similar to how computers do not eliminate the need to understand the basic math student’s.

In addition, students will also be equipped with knowledge of how AI tools work, to be able to evaluate and analyze the results obtained from such tools, because they sometimes may be inaccurate or misleading.

As for preventing exam fraud by using AI tools like ChatGPT, Minister Chan Chun Sing said that higher education institutions have many different assessment methods, such as testing, Presentations and projects require observations, notes and analysis, notes that AI technology cannot easily generate.

There are many solutions used to detect plagiarism in exercises, including technology tools that can detect content generated by AI technology, which will be developed over time.
