The picture is impressive. And even if we will have to wait until June 2023 to see it in operation, the photovoltaic power plant which the company will acquire Safran Nacelles in Gonfreville-l’Orcher near Le Havre (Seine-Maritime) is announced by press release this Monday, February 6, 2023 as being “ one of the largest self-consumption photovoltaic power plants on an industrial site in France ».
One of the largest photovoltaic power plants on an industrial site
12,000 photovoltaic panels, i.e. 24,000 m² installed in the parking shade. This is what awaits the company Safran Nacelles of Gonfreville l’Orcher which announced on Monday February 6, 2023, “accompanied by the company Reservoir Sun, to embark on the production of solar energy to reduce its carbon footprint”.
The power will obviously match its size: 5 MWp [MWc ou Mégawatt-crête est l’unité de mesure de la puissance délivrée par un panneau photovoltaïque dans des conditions optimales ].
When it is launched, it will become one of the largest self-consumption photovoltaic power plants on an industrial site in France. 5 GWh (Gigawatt-hour) per year will be dedicated to self-consumption to cover more than 20% of the site’s consumption.
Operational in June 2023
The Safran Nacelles photovoltaic power plant will be operational in June 2023. Vincent Caro, Chairman of Safran Nacelles, said in a press release: “We are taking another step in our contribution to reducing our environmental footprint. By directly consuming the electricity produced by the photovoltaic power plant, we are increasing our share of renewable and self-produced energy locally on our site. »
We are proud of this new installation to come, which is a continuation of the installation of photovoltaic power plants on our sites in Casablanca in Morocco and Colomiers in Haute-Garonne.
Near Le Havre and Pont-Audemer, Safran Nacelles employs around 1,700 people in Normandy.
