The Moroccan-Spanish Social and Solidarity Economy Forum (ESS) was an opportunity to share the positive results of the first cooperation program between the Ministry and AECID, relating to “Institutional support to the ESS and support for pilot projects” in three regions, namely Oriental, Souss-Massa and Casablanca-Settat.
This program has made it possible to strengthen the capacities of 240 cooperatives in terms of leadership, communication, marketing, access to markets as well as the strengthening of digitalisation.
In order to sustain the achievements of this first partnership and maintain the momentum initiated, the Minister announced the signing of a new partnership protocol aimed at the “Empowerment of women and young people through entrepreneurship in the SSE”, in four pilot regions, namely: Oriental, Souss-Massa, Casablanca-Settat and Tanger-Tétouan-Al Hoceima.
In this context, the minister did not fail to recall the importance of the SSE sector as a lever for development and social progress in the kingdom, as well as the multiple efforts made by the ministry and its various institutional and to achieve the objectives set for 2030: 50,000 new jobs per year and a contribution of 8% to the national GDP instead of the current 2.5%.
Moreover, this forum is held within the framework of cooperation between the Ministry of Tourism, Handicrafts and Social and Solidarity Economy and the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation in Morocco (AECID).
