A man suspected of having killed a woman and her two children in Pelt before fleeing: he was found dead


The man suspected of having killed a woman and her two children in an apartment in Pelt, Limburg, on Sunday evening, was found dead, the Limburg prosecutor’s office confirmed on Sunday evening.

The individual presumed responsible for the tragedy had initially fled, which triggered a search operation. “An investigation is underway into a family tragedy, namely a triple murder. The suspect was on the run following the events, but he was found deceased this evening”said the press officer of the Limburg public prosecutor’s office, Dorien Vanderheiden.

No other information will be provided on Sunday evening by the Limburg prosecutor’s office. The local police went to the scene of the tragedy, in Houtmolen Street in Pelt, to make the first findings. Firefighters set up a tent there to shelter the victims. The time of the drama has not yet been established, but it was around 5:45 p.m. that the first fire and rescue vehicles were noticed.

The Limburg public prosecutor’s office was informed of the facts and decided to seize an investigating judge. In the evening, another police intervention took place on chaussée Breugel in Pelt, where the suspect was found dead. The family was originally from Bosnia and the couple had started divorce proceedings.
