Does the cell phone screen age faster?
According to a study conducted by the Oregon State University, blue light from devices can cause accelerated deterioration of cells in the body. This degenerative effect not only affects tissues that are designed for the perception of light, but also the production of neurotransmitters and different vital pathways of metabolism.
Artificial blue light can be found in almost all mobile devices, due to its ability to display images, colors, and other graphics with incredible precision and efficiency. In other words, blue light is responsible for high definition on devices. However, prolonged exposure to it has been linked to damage to the retinas and an increased risk of glaucoma.
This new study has shown that it not only has degenerative effects on the eyes but also on different tissues such as the skin and neurons. The experiment consisted of exposing a group of flies to blue light waves, they showed symptoms of accelerated aging, reduced motor skills, brain neurodegeneration and even a reduction in their life expectancy.
