Neon Neet – “post-human” – mica

The debut album “Post-Human” by the electro pop duo NEON NEET will be released on February 3rd, 2023 on Assim Records. On the same day you can look forward to the release concert in the B72.

background

“The Computer Nr3”, (…looks for the right boy for me). So confidently sang France Gall 1968 the search for a partner in times of the digitized world. Admittedly, digitization makes many things possible and speeds things up tremendously. But the big decision-making questions remain with you.
Because in truth, digital help only increases the range of options to the unimaginable. If you might at least send an avatar to the date soon.
The desire for family security in increasingly uncertain times competes with the simultaneously powerful forces of the idea of a modern, ideally even polyamorous relationship concept.
Or else, I don’t deal with it at all and stay alone. In a seemingly perfect world of no competition. Unfortunately, the almost invincible boss lurks in your head. The self-optimized me.
This is one of those stressors that plagues the younger generation in a variety of areas of everyday life, quite apart from the uncertainty of general world events.

Music

Interestingly enough, this inner turmoil only jumps out at the listener to a limited extent, following reading the press release one was prepared for a lot. Rather, when listening to the album entitled “post-human”, one becomes aware of a very homogeneous and hypercultural dance production.
According to Wikipedia, hypercultural, according to the self-description, distinguishes itself from multiculture through its temporal independence and describes “a dense juxtaposition of different ideas.(…) Hyperculturalism does not require terms such as tolerance and integration.”
The Innsbrucker/Telfs duo, consisting of Dorian Windegger (Vocals & Instruments) and Philip Koell (Instruments), makes use of a variety of influences and samples in your productions, which nowadays are available legally and in infinite quantities. Here the question does not arise: “Who invented it?”. Because anyone who processes it well leaves the accusation of “cultural appropriation” far behind in this case. The trick is to put them together and form a new work of art from them. The danger of getting lost in it is great. Sounding like this once and then once more like this. Neither of them fell into this trap.

Songs like “Extension” have the rhythm, meter and phrasing of a rock song and are reminiscent of “Sixteen Saltines” by the music video, also because of the depiction of a brutalized youth Jack White. “Redefine” sounds very influenced by the RnB, judging by the same parameters. However, they all remain true to the overarching genre of an electro pop production. Cemented together with the typical craftsmanship of this style of music. Compressors pump basses and synthesizers, giving the whole thing a constantly brisk and danceable flow. Reversed cymbals and filtered noise envelopes adorn the drops. Various vocal effects suggest a gender-fluid character, and filter envelopes immerse you in the unrealistic and thought-lost self.
Reminiscent of the fictional soundtrack of a Thomas „Neo“ Anderson into Matrix. The “white rabbit” from the film to follow is metaphorically the claim of a qualitative international electro pop production. To what extent does that sound like a blue or red pill?

Kidnapped on 2/3/23 Neon Neet Her fans and those interested in her dream world at the release concert in B72. Whether that will lift you up to a realistic level, like the bitter red pill, or even to even more sensory levels, will be revealed to those who will also be there.
