The Argentine Journalism Forum (FOPEA) issued a statement expressing its condemnation of “the limitations that the municipal and provincial governments of Neuquén” applied to a Neuquén political talk show.
As reported, the program “Focused” broadcast by the regional channel Somos El Valle and by a YouTube channel received the news that the production of the program would not receive any more guidelines by the provincial government something that I had for a long time.
They were also informed that they will no longer have the possibility of using the facilities of the Gregorio Álvarez Municipal Museum, where the interviews with the most influential political actors in the province were recorded.
“FOPEA understands that the two actions that affected the program represent an attempt at censorship and urges the authorities of the province and the Municipality of Neuquén to respect freedom of expression, the work of independent journalism and the right of citizens to receive plural information as a requirement for the exercise of participation in democratic elections,” the forum explained.
In the statement released by the FOPEA networks, it is reported that the data referring to both situations that affect the production of the program were “corroborated by the producer and conductor Matías Césari, who stated that Enfocados is a political interview program that invites leaders of all party signs and those who ask non-condescending questions and prioritizing the public interest»
