De Bijenkorf stops with the French and German webshops. Due to rising costs, the Dutch department store has decided to focus on the Dutch and Flemish markets. The disappearance of the webshops will be at the expense of a number of jobs in the Netherlands, the company says.
With the French and German-language webshops, the company focused on Germany, Austria, Luxembourg, France, Monaco and the French-speaking part of Belgium. Although jobs are being lost, the company says it is doing its best to “replace as many colleagues as possible within the Bijenkorf”.
The webshops will be taken off the air in the coming months. De Bijenkorf has been active outside the Netherlands and Flanders since the autumn of 2019.
