Anyone who visits the funeral is invited to offer beer and money

Currently, the market is in the restoration phase. This is the third and biggest restoration following two times in 1992 and 2006. The four sides of the market are built with corrugated iron walls to prevent anyone from entering.

All small traders have to move to the temporary market on Thap Muoi street in front of Binh Tay market which is being repaired.

Binh Tay Market is a project “conceived” by Mr. Quach Dam. All preparations for the scheduled start date in 1927 had been completed, but before the groundbreaking ceremony, he died. It was not until the following year that his family complied with his will.

In 1992, the People’s Committee of District 6 repaired and built an additional floor in the market, making the market no longer as high and airy as before, but expanding to 748 stalls.

The total number of stalls in the market was increased to more than 2,300 stalls, of which 1,446 stalls are located in the market cage, 912 stalls are located around the market on Le Tan Ke, Phan Van Khoe, Tran Binh streets.

Business stalls with more than 30 categories of products such as spices (abalone, fish fins, fish bubbles, needles, mushrooms…), confectionery (jam, cakes of all kinds) and clothes, shoes, bags handbags, household appliances (crockery, plastic, aluminum, stainless steel…), jewelry, gold, silver, precious stones…

The goods at the market are very rich and diverse in types, the prices are suitable for the purchasing power of people with average incomes. The form of business at the market is still mainly wholesale to localities.

This 3rd restoration started in November 2016 and will be completed following 1 year of construction.

Although today, the supermarket system is very active and spreading everywhere, but it still does not affect the purchasing power at Binh Tay market. With the position of a wholesale market holding the business of the city, Binh Tay market is increasingly trusted and loved by small businesses and customers.

In the near future, with the ancient architecture and long history of the market, the market is opening a new direction of development.

Binh Tay Market will be a potential shopping destination for domestic and foreign tourists.
