A golden trophy but no foul. In a decision made public on Thursday, Arcom considers that Cyril Hanouna did not commit any fault by celebrating the audience records for his show in October. Do not touch My TV ! the day following an issue largely devoted to murder of Lola.
“The acclaimed audiences concerned the first two months of the season and not recent sequences during which tragic events might be mentioned”, judges the audiovisual regulator in this decision taken in December and published Thursday on its website. Arcom “has therefore not identified any element likely to constitute an attack on the dignity of the human person”. Several sequences of TPMP in connection with the murder of Lola, 12, on October 14, had given rise to reports from viewers to Arcom.

In the main of these cases, the C8 channel (Canal+ group), which broadcasts TPMP, received a formal notice on November 18, because Cyril Hanouna had called for summary trials in cases similar to Lola’s murder. This measure, which targeted programs broadcast on October 18, 19 and 24, is the second level of warning from Arcom before possible sanctions.
The decision rendered on Thursday relates to a sequence from the October 19 broadcast. A party was then organized on the set to celebrate the audiences of the show. During this party, the boss of C8, Franck Appietto, had given Cyril Hanouna a gold trophy bearing the date of the day before. The issue of October 18, partly devoted to Lola, had indeed exceeded the bar of two million viewers.
In addition to the proceedings concerning the Lola affair, C8 and TPMP might also be penalized for insults from Cyril Hanouna towards the deputy LFI Louis Boyard on the November 10 issue. A week following this incident, Arcom had paved the way for a sanction procedure by forwarding this new case to an independent reporter, a member of the Council of State.
