Liverpool FC won in the Premier League for the first time since the end of August on Sunday (October 16th, 2022) – and also once morest Manchester City. Arsenal remain leaders. Chelsea also won.
Liverpool’s Mo Salah scored the winning goal once morest Manchester City in the 76th minute to make it 1-0 (0-0). Team manager Jürgen Klopp cheered in the stands: After an emotional outburst, he saw the red card shortly before the end. Klopp later said his team had “really really good” played. “We defended at an incredibly high level.”
For Liverpool, who experienced their worst start to the season in ten years, it was only their third win in nine games of the season. The club is now eighth in the Premier League table. The gap to defending champion City is still ten points.
Man City have not scored in the Premier League for the first time since mid-April and suffered their first defeat since February. Chelsea remain on the road to success under new coach Graham Potter. The team from London prevailed 2-0 (1-0) at Aston Villa with former Leverkusen player Leon Bailey.
English football international Mason Mount (6th minute, 65th) scored both goals for the “Blues”, who claimed fourth place in the Premier League table, at Villa Park in front of national coach Gareth Southgate. Chelsea have so far won all games under Potter, who took over as coach from Thomas Tuchel regarding a month ago.
