Bethany Lane (35 years old) started walking her dog 11 years ago, following she graduated from Rutgers University and moved to New York City (USA) to pursue a career in public health.

As work progressed, Ms. Lane founded Whistle & Wag Company in 2014, providing pet care services in the West Village (New York). At one point, Ms. Lane had to work 12 hours a day to pay off her student debt and hire more staff.
Currently, nearly 3 years following the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic, Ms. Lane’s company can’t even keep up with the demand. After raising the price for the service ($35 per walk) and taking on dozens of new clients, she hopes to make six figures.

Lane said when she was young, she never believed she might make a living taking care of dogs.
“My job is to make dogs happy when their owners are busy. I love these dogs. They are like my children,” Lane said.
