Britain celebrates an “Egyptian leprosy”…and the communication sites are ridiculed

An Egyptian gecko traveled an estimated distance of 3,000 miles, to move from its original home in Egypt to Manchester, Britain, and settle inside a box of strawberries on a journey that is the strangest of its kind.

It did not occur to a British woman in the city of Manchester, as she opened the door of her refrigerator, to find a small animal overlooking her from the strawberry box that she bought from the supermarket, only to discover that it was the Egyptian gecko, a type of lizard that usually prefers a warm environment.

Nikata Moran, 29, told the BBC what happened to her and said, “I saw something moving in front of my eyes following I opened the strawberry box.. and when I investigated more, I saw this little leper. I did not believe it.” How did this leprosy reach the refrigerator of the British lady?

It turned out later that the Egyptian animal had mistakenly moved from Egypt to England through a closed container transporting Egyptian strawberries to Britain.

This leprosy, whose length does not exceed two and a half centimeters, traveled 4,500 kilometers without eating or drinking, and remained alive and in good health.

British media celebrated the incident of the “leprosy”, who found what he needed in the refrigerator of the English woman, who continued saying, “I put him in a box until the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals arrived, and a veterinarian specializing in exotic animals examined him, to confirm that he was in good health despite the long journey he made.” .

It later became clear, according to British media, that the leprosy had accidentally moved into a strawberry container coming from Egypt. According to officials at the Reptile and Animal Rescue Society, accidental transmission of imported lizards is common.

According to the British Organization for Animal Welfare, the leprosy lives in a quarantine period to ensure its safety, and then it will be placed in a suitable environment, given that it needs a warm environment.

According to Al-Sharq Al-Awsat, the incident sparked a state of controversy on social media in Egypt, especially following the British celebration of leprosy, so that the pioneers of “social” received expressions of ridicule, while he considered it “good luck” for the Egyptian “gecko”, who will receive Special care from the British authorities.
