On January 31, at Bo Lu village, Nam Mau commune, the People’s Committee of Ba Be district, Bac Kan province, held the opening ceremony of Ba Be Long Tong Festival. Lunar New Year 2023.

This is one of the largest traditional Long Tong festival in the Spring season with the largest scale in the Northern mountainous region.

After two years of hiatus due to the COVID-19 epidemic, this year, Ba Be Long Tong Festival was held once more and had many new activities associated with promoting and introducing tourism potential.

Mr. Luu Quoc Trung, Chairman of the People’s Committee of Ba Be District, said that on September 27, 2012, Ba Be Lake scenic spot was recognized by the Prime Minister as a tourist attraction. Special National Monument; December 19, 2014, “Ba Be Spring Festival” was recognized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism as a national intangible cultural heritage named “Ba Be Dragon Ball Festival.”

The Long Tong Festival of the Tay ethnic group is one of the major and important festivals, becoming an indispensable need, balancing the spiritual life and enjoying cultural creativity, in order to satisfy the desire to return. origin and religious activities of the people.

Before the opening time of the festival, leaders of Bac Kan province, Ba Be district and representatives of communes conducted offerings at An Ma temple and released freed fish on Ba Be lake.

At exactly 9 am, the most important part of the ritual is the procession of the altar, the burning of incense, the prayer for the season, which is held with the wish of a year of favorable rain, harmony, labor, and production.

After the ceremony, there is a festival with activities: Lion dance, dragon dance, art performance… associated with promoting and connecting agricultural product consumption.

At this year’s festival, Ba Be district also reserved space for booths displaying typical OCOP products of districts, cities and communes, towns and cooperatives in the area.

According to the plan, the festival will have activities: Kayaking on Ba Be Lake; volleyball competition; experience cultural space and display photos of “The Land and People of Ba Be”; organize ethnic sports of pushing sticks, blindfolded catching goats; children’s drawing competition with the theme of environmental protection; singing reciprocal love; the remaining stitches, pounding the thick cake. Especially, this year, for the first time in the Spring Festival, paragliding experience on Ba Be Lake was held.

The festival will end on February 1, 2023 with activities such as semi-finals, finals of volleyball tournament and tug of war.

Before that, on the evening of January 30, within the framework of the festival, the People’s Committee of Ba Be district released flower lanterns on Ba Be lake; communes and townships in the district participate in mass performances.
