Here comes the opportunity to “create a new Guangdong” | blog post

After the Lunar New Year holiday in the mainland, last Saturday (January 28), the first day of return to work, calls for “fighting the economy” came from all over the country, especially the trend in Guangdong Province that attracted the most attention.

The Guangdong Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial Government held a provincial high-quality development conference in Guangzhou on the same day. More than 25,000 people participated. Officials at all levels in Guangdong Province and representatives of major enterprises attended together. The meeting was broadcast live to cities, counties, and districts in Guangdong province. This conference sent out a strong signal of Guangdong’s “scrambling for time and striving for development”.

After the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China last year, the top leaders in various provinces and cities were adjusted. Huang Kunming, a member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee and former head of the Central Propaganda Department, was transferred to the secretary of the Guangdong Provincial Party Committee. The mobilization of Huang Kunming’s heavy artillery to go south to govern Guangdong is to revitalize Guangdong’s role as the locomotive of the national economy.

The super first-tier cities in the Mainland have always been Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Shenzhen, known as North, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Shenzhen. But last year, a new pattern emerged in the ranking of cities with a GDP trillion in the mainland. Chongqing surpassed Guangzhou to become the “fourth city”. This reflects from one aspect that Guangdong has developed to such a high level. Guangdong has ranked first in GDP for 34 consecutive years, and it is not easy to maintain this position.

Huang Kunming obviously came with the task of pushing Guangdong to a new level. On November 30 last year, Guangzhou was the first city to lift the blockade. The epidemic quickly passed the peak in Guangdong, and now it is back on the road.
