Four people were killed and 18 injured in a roof collapse in Balkh province in northern Afghanistan on January 30.

Balkh provincial police spokesman Mohammad Asif Waziri said the incident happened on the evening of January 30 in the village of Qoriq, Charkent district. A family of four, including two children, were killed.

Many women and children among the 18 injured. The death toll might rise as some are in critical condition.

A day before, in Shigal district, Kunar province also happened roof collapse Due to heavy snow accumulation, 3 children died and 6 people were injured.

People in Afghanistan’s war-torn rural areas mostly live in mud-built houses that are vulnerable to heavy snowfall, heavy rain and natural disasters in general.
